Okay, so basically CLANNAD is an adaption of a popular visual novel. this show was hella frustrating to get through, but I FINALLY finished the damned thing last night, so let's talk about it: I left it alone for another year and a half after that, until tonight I FINALLY finished the damned thing. And then the show just ventured into complete and total "WHAT THE F*** ARE THEY EVEN DOING ANYMORE?" territory for the next 4 episodes straight, and it just completely frustrated the hell out of me all over again. 2 years later, I finally buckled down and finished the Kotomi arc (episodes 10-14.) Unlike the Fuko arc, It really didn't do much for me emotionally. (Episodes 5-9.) I felt feels, I cried, I liked it! But then the arc ended and it started all over again, and sidetracked to yet ANOTHER subplot. And I finally did make it through the show's first arc, the Fuko arc. Back during my original attempt at watching it in 2010, I only made it through the first 5 episodes before I got too frustrated with its constant diversions to side-plots and side characters, and as a result I lost the motivation to keep going. It took me FIVE years to finally get through all 23 episodes of this show. Hell, I don't think there's any anime show that has made me feel a more confusing combination of frustration, sadness, elation, and downright facepalming "did they REALLY just do that?" It was a frustrating show to get through. it sort of did? But it also frustrated the hell out of me over and over and over again. The original CLANNAD wasn't as highly acclaimed as After Story, which is universally hailed as a masterpiece (it's ranked #6 all-time on MyAnimeList, with an average score of a whopping 9.14,) but CLANNAD was pretty highly-rated too, so I dove into it with the higest of hopes, expecting true greatness, and expecting to cry my eyes out.Īnd, well. "After Story," though, was a sequel, so before watching it, I needed to watch the original show, CLANNAD. People called it one of the saddest, most emotional, most weep-inducing anime shows they'd ever seen. "CLANNAD: After Story" was universally hailed as a masterpiece. "K-ON!," "True Tears," "ef: A Tale of Memories," and "CLANNAD: After Story." So I did some internet searching on what people's favorite shows of 2007-2009 were, which led me to discovering several acclaimed slice-of-life dramas.

In the summer of 2010, as I often do, I went on an anime kick. On the way home, Tomoya starts telling Ushio about Nagisa for the first time.I FINALLY finished this show. Tomoya realizes his previous mistakes and vows to try his best for Ushio from now on, who is very happy at the prospect of being with her father. When they go back to the field where Ushio is, she still cannot find the robot, and does not want to stop looking because it was the first thing her father ever gave her. Tomoya finally comes to terms with his father, and realizes he is not a bad father. She tells Tomoya how he came here with his father shortly after his mother died, and Shino tells Tomoya how his father worked very hard to support him over the years.
Remembering something from his past, Tomoya goes off to another area and meets his grandmother Shino Okazaki, his father's mother.
Ushio plays in the field as Tomoya watches, but Ushio soon loses the robot in the field they try to look for it, but to no avail. The next day, after staying at an inn the previous night, Tomoya and Ushio take a walk through the area and come across a field of flowers. While on the trip, Tomoya buys a toy robot he picks out for Ushio to play with after they arrive in the countryside.
